Anticipated Movies for 2020

Hey, it's time for my huge list of films that I think I want to see for the upcoming year.  It's a pretty decent mix, I think.  We'll see if any of them are any good.

Dolittle

I've actually known about this re-adaptation with Robert Downey Jr. for a while now, and even wondered if it would be a remake of the classic musical, as RDJ can sing!  Early trailers make it seem that is not the case, but it should still be a fun, animal-filled adventure.

The Gentlemen

Guy Ritchie is a director I think has a lot of personal style, and with this one, it looks like he's getting back into his comedic crime-thriller roots.  With quite the cast, I imagine this will be a lot of irreverent fun.

Bloodshot

So the people who own Valiant Comics (now known as Valiant Entertainment) want to throw their hat into the crowded superhero movie continuity business with Bloodshot.  Given their options, it's not a bad choice to start things off with, and Vin Diesel playing the title role gives this one some promise.

Mulan

I admit I have been mostly ignoring Disney's trend of creating live-action adaptations of their animated classics (I still haven't seen Aladdin!), but this one is different.  Looking through cast and seeing the trailers, this is going to be much more of a wuxia-style epic (like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon), and I find that very exciting!

No Time To Die

Daniel Craig comes back one more time to play James Bond.  While Bond films are usually pretty fun, I have mixed feelings about this one, as I felt like Spectre ended the Craig storyline pretty well.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they're bringing back Dave Bautista from Spectre, though.  Kind of a shame, as I felt like he had a Jaws-like quality to his character, one that could come back and continue to bother Bond in future films.

Black Widow

The MCU carries on, this time going back a little to give the now deceased Black Widow one last triumph of her own.  It will probably be pretty good, but as I mentioned before, I'm think I'm done with keeping up to date on the continuity anymore, so I probably won't rush out to see it.

Artemis Fowl

I know I mentioned this one last year, but it got delayed.  I'm still nervously excited for this.  I loved the book, but I don't know how much of it's unique spirit and atmosphere will make it to the screen.  Book-to-movie adaptations are always tricky.

Infinite

Not much is known about this one, but Antione Fuqua doing sci-fi is an intriguing prospect.  We'll see what the trailers look like, but I'm keeping an eye on this one.

The King's Man

A prequel to the highly irreverent Kingsmen films, this actually looks interesting due how grounded it seems to look.  Set during World War I, it looks like a fun ride, though perhaps without all the Bond-style silliness.

Death on the Nile

The follow up to Kenneth Branagh's Murder on the Orient Express (which I still need to see!), this is going to be a classic mystery thriller.  I like Branagh, and I've heard good things about Orient Express, so I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one!

The Witches

As a fan of Roald Dahl, this goes on the list.  I remember liking the first film they did of this book (though it's been a very long time since I've seen it!), and I'll be curious to see how they adapt the classic book this time.

The Eternals

See Black Widow above.  Not sure how excited I am, but we'll see what the trailers look like.

Godzilla vs. Kong

So after the last Godzilla movie blew everything up, we're finally gonna get a showdown between two of the most famous movie monsters of all time (again).  Given Legendary's style from the last two films in this continuity, I expect that it will be a pretty nuts roller coaster ride.

Raya and the Last Dragon

Probably the last department of Disney's megacorporation that still interested in creating original properties, their animation studio seems set to make a a fantasy tale about exploration and dragons.  While it may seem like they're riding the coattails of a certain Dreamworks franchise, Disney's not out of ideas yet, so I'm curious to see how this looks.

Dune

From the director of Blade Runner 2049, we get the first part of an adaptation of one of the greatest sci-fi epics ever written.  Having fond memories of the novel when I read it high-school, I'm definitely looking forward to this.  Villeneuve is not an average director, so I have high hopes.

Uncharted

Based on the modern video game series that plays like if Indiana Jones was written by Joss Whedon, it's hard to know how this will turn out.  The games were cinematic enough, so to make a movie from them seems weirdly unnecessary.  They've got Tom Holland in the lead role, which is also weird, because the main character, Nathan Drake, is a grizzled thirty-something (or late 20s, anyway).  I'll have to see what the trailers are like.

The Tomorrow War

Not much is known about this one either, other than that it's a military sci-fi epic with Chris Pratt and J.K. Simmons.  Given that it's about how the past is going to help humanity fight aliens in the future, I'm certainly curious.

Well, that's what I have coming up.  Maybe this year I won't try to review them all at once!  Next is my Star Wars Retrospective, so be sure to keep an eye out for the first part of that doozy!
